On the night of August 2, Russia sent attack drones to the south of the Odesa region.
Fires broke out at the Danube port and industrial infrastructure facilities due to the enemy attack. According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the shelling damaged and destroyed an elevator, grain hangars, tanks at one of the cargo terminals, production facilities, a warehouse, and administrative facilities.
About ten residential buildings, 15 apartments, a hotel building, and the office of the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company were damaged or destroyed in a Russian night attack on Izmail, Odesa region, on Wednesday night, said Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa regional military administration.
“Not a single military facility, not a single facility related to the troops, was damaged. All objects are civilian: port infrastructure, warehouses, and grain terminals. The administrative building of the Ukrainian Ports Authority was also damaged,” he said.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, a total of 23 Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones were destroyed by air defense forces overnight.
The Russians attacked the port and industrial infrastructure of the Danube a little more than two days after three civilian cargo ships, having overcome the Russian blockade in the Black Sea, anchored in one of the Ukrainian grain ports in the river delta.
The full-scale war in Ukraine has entered its 525th day.
